The Low Rave towards Christmas in Nigeria in 2013

I believe many Nigerians especially the masses has noticed this. The rave towards Christmas is very low key. Years back, when christmas is approaching, many people who are christians troop to the market to buy food stuffs and other material stuffs. The market was a good ground to view how people are getting set for christmas. Even in the streets where most masses reside, people bought all sought of food stuffs like big cocks (chicken), clothing for children and other essentials for christmas. What's the main cause or reason behind this low rave for the christmas? Is it due to the economic financial meltdown? Or is it due to the militant crisis like that of the Boko Haram insurgency or the inability of the Nigerian government to provide or to meet up with certain requirements this year e.g ASUU strike, strike warning by doctors etc and etc? Me as a person, am not really moved as the christmas is fast approaching. The major factors that have contributed to this are the things I earlier listed. I deeply feel like it's my own pain. I try to put myself in the shoes of those who has fallen into the hands of these Boko Haram insurgents even as I don't have enough cash at hand now. Are people excited as the christmas is fast approaching? How is the rave towards christmas like in your area?
