Soldiers ‘beat up’ Ondo hospital workers

About 20 soldiers allegedly beat up health workers at the General Hospital in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Wednesday afternoon. It was learnt that the soldiers assaulted anyone in sight. An eyewitness said many workers got injured while trying to escape from the soldiers. Those unlucky were rough handled and are recuperating at various hospitals. The Chief Medical Director (CMD) and other senior staff reportedly went into hiding. It was learnt that the soldiers were protesting against the rejection of their colleague’s body by the hospital’s mortuary. Sources said the soldiers brought the body on Tuesday evening but the management said the mortuary was congested. One of the injured workers said: “Efforts made by the soldiers to deposit the body here were unsuccessful, so they went back with it . “On Wednesday morning, the soldiers came here fully armed, as if they were going to war. They started beating up the people they met on their way and disrupted activities in the hospital. Doctors, nurses and other health workers were beaten up.“ Police spokesman Wole Ogodo said he was not aware of the incident. The Army Public Relations (APR) Unit of the 232 Brigade Command, Owena Barracks, Akure, could not be reached for comments. A high ranking officer in the command denied the allegation, saying: “Today’s Nigerian Army is more discipline and civil to commit such crude acts.” He said the people that attacked the hospital could be miscreants disguised in fake army uniforms.

Narrow Escape as a Car hits a man's Kitchen

A man had a narrow escape after a car ploughed into his kitchen at 30mph and shunted the oven across the room – minutes after he had cooked some sausages.

Nick Poole, 40, had taken just two bites out of his sausage sandwich when he heard a huge bang and rushed back into the kitchen to find a Citroen C5 had reversed into the house.

Mr Poole, who was housesitting for his parents Josie and Tony Poole while they were on holiday, said the noise was so loud he thought a plane had hit the house.

"I was incredibly lucky the car didn't hit me as I had been cooking in the kitchen just one minute before," he said.

"I was sitting in the lounge and had just started eating when I heard lots of loud bangs, one after the other. It was so loud I thought a plane had crashed into the house.
 "I ran into the kitchen and I couldn't believe it when I saw the car inside, I'm still quite shaken about it."
The car was reversed into the house by a female neighbour who lives opposite Mr Poole.
"I think she had a problem with her engine and when she hit reverse the car shot back at high speed," added Mr Poole, a garage owner, who lives in Bassingbourn, Hertfordshire.
"It must have hit the house at about 30mph, but luckily the woman was fine and the back of the car took the impact.
"She was very shaken and in shock and her husband rushed over from across the street and got her out."
The car hit the gas mains and water pipes and flooded the kitchen.
The street had to be evacuated while the fire services and police dealt with the incident, which happened at about 2.30pm last Saturday.
Two fire services from Hertfordshire attended, as well as Hertfordshire police and the National Grid.
A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The gas main was leaking gas so we established an exclusion zone and we made the area safe until the arrival of the gas board."
Mr Poole's mother Josie, 60, and her husband Tony, 64, had only moved into their home five months ago, after spending a year renovating it.
They had decided to downsize after 35 years and move into the house, which used to belong to Mrs Poole's mother.
Mrs Poole, who returned home from the Canary Islands on Wednesday evening, said: "My son was good at telling us what had happened so we came back knowing it would be devastated.
"We have only lived in the house for a few months and it wasn't quite finished, now we've got to start again.
"Nick was so lucky not to have been hit by the car, I think he is still quite shaken about it.
"The car hit the cooker with such force it shot across the room into a cupboard on the other side."
The couple are staying in the house while the damage is dealt with by their insurance company.

How To Fix "Storage Space Running Out" Problem On Android

As a phone guru and phone technician, I've come across this problem. I've tried several ways like deleting files from my friends android but it wasn't the solution. I believe this will help a lot. The files in "Internal Storage" cannot be browsed using a normal file browser because inherently Android states that files in this storage be 'private'. A young lady was waiting for her flight in the boarding room of a big airport. Human body parts fell from the sky in the city of Jeddah Sunday, with police saying they could be the remains of a person trapped in an airplane’s wheel bay. “Police received a telephone call at 2:30 am from a witness reporting the fall of human remains at an intersection in Mushrefa neighbourhood” in the Red Sea city, spokesman Nawaf bin Naser al-Bouq said in a statement. Initial indications were that the remains “fell from a plan’s landing gear,” said Bouq, adding that investigations were ongoing. In a desperate attempt to cross borders, some people at poorly monitored airports climb inside the bays holding the landing gear of planes. Most of them freeze to death once the aircraft reach cruising altitude, but some survive. In 2010, the head of Beirut’s airport security resigned after the death of a man who managed to sneak onto a runway undetected and hide in the wheel bay of a Saudi-bound jet.
